The tanto is the Japanese equivalent of the dagger. Its blade measures approximately 11,81''. Also called kaiken when mounted without a tsuba or guard, its structure is similar to the katana although often performed in Hira-zukuri. Only samurai usually wore them, but many women also hid a kaiken in their obi for self-defense.
We offer tantos in 1095 steel, therefore hard steel, and tantos in 1095 hamon, much harder and therefore even better sharpened.
Our tantos can also be forged in damask steel, then having a notable aesthetic appearance, and an alloy of hardness and greater flexibility than the simple 1060.
